Tachles Israel is an independent information service, not a government authority. Check binding conditions, eligibility and deadlines with the official source.
Before you start
Handle ending the old account and starting the new one separately. This guide uses the Israel Electric form; if you chose another supplier, also check your supply agreement with it.
Who is this guide for?
Tenants and buyers entering a property with an existing electricity connection.
A name change is not a new connection request. Match the meter to the actual property; never open an electrical cabinet or touch wiring to obtain a reading.
The checklist
Identify the contract and supplier
Electricity bill for identification only.
An apartment number or resident's name does not replace the meter number.
Agree the handover reading
Recommended reading photo and handover record.
This helps prevent disputes; it does not confirm account transfer.
Prepare the incoming customer's form
Signed contract and identification; corporate signatory approval if required by the form.
The form indicates a charge for changing the customer. Check the current price with the supplier.
Submit and track each property separately
Application copy and submission confirmation.
Cancelling a direct debit alone does not notify a change of customer.
Check the next bill
First new bill and handover evidence.
Sending the form does not prove the process is complete.

Frequently asked questions
Does changing the name at Israel Electric also update a private supplier?
Check separately with the supplier holding your supply agreement. Keep confirmation for every relevant contract.
